Meditation on the Inner-Pharaoh

Posted on January 12th, 2009.

As we move into Exodus/Shemot (where we meet the mythic/historical Pharaoh – the all-powerful enslaver), join us for a meditation reflecting on the internal nature of Pharaoh.  The story of liberation is about seeing through and beyond Pharaoh’s authority and control.  In meditation we look inside our own hearts; there we may encounter the inner-Pharaoh as the thought patterns and impulses that urge us to seek complete control, total approval, utter security, and perfect relationships.

Meditation is an exploration between the reality of abiding liberation and the forces impeding that freedom.  Join Rabbi Sheila Weinberg for a very gentle meditation practice.  Together we will engage in a simple relaxation meditation focused on the breath and being with the present moment in its undefined state.  Experience sitting with the fluid nature of experience – thoughts, sensations, sounds arising and passing – and the knowledge that only awareness itself is continuous.  Allow yourself to explore resting in the spacious, open, non-judging stance of awareness itself.
