INSTITUTE FOR JEWISH SPIRITUALITY:
Cultivating mindful leaders. Revitalizing Jewish life. Our Vision: We envision a vibrant, transformative Judaism that is rooted in tradition and attuned to contemporary sensibilities; is invigorated by practices integrating mind, body, heart and soul; inspires Jews to connect meaningfully with each other, with their communities, and with the Divine; and creates a more just and compassionate world. Our Mission: We seek to transform Jewish life. We help clergy, leaders, and other Jews connect with their deepest inner resources, their communities, and the Divine through contemplative Jewish practices that integrate mind, body, heart and soul. We provide them with valuable skills to be effective leaders who can enrich everyday life with Jewish wisdom; link the search for inner wholeness with tikkun olam; and create a vibrant and enduring Judaism for the next generation. Our Retreats: Clergy: IJS offers 18-month leadership programs for clergy consisting of 4 five-day retreats that include Hassidic text study, prayer, mindfulness meditation, yoga and spiritual direction. Professional alumni: The Hevraya program offers national and regional retreats, weekly text study, an interactive online resource bank and spiritual direction. Lay People: IJS offers 4-day Shabbat retreats twice a year with contemplative prayer, mindfulness meditation, Hassidic text study, yoga, lively discussion and Shabbat community. We also offer periodic retreats focused on the needs of social justice professionals. |
